Where to place your chairs

Have you ever wondered what the proper way is to place chairs around a table? Let’s take a look at a room that’s getting staged. 

Here we have the proper way to arrange the chairs:

 

We call this an X placement. Doesn’t that look inviting? It feels spacious and comfortable.  It’s pleasant to the eye and leads the view straight out the window. That’s serenity.

Here’s the improper, but all too common way to arrange the chairs:

As you can see, the room looks smaller, crowded, and less inviting. This is called a plus (+) placement. Just a simple change like this can open up or close down a room and add to or detract from the home’s perceived value. Help a buyer envision eating breakfast with the morning light streaming in.
